NYC PIEDRAN TERRACE

This renovation of a 4600-square foot office space in Little Italy took the large open space and adapted for use for a growing production studio and film editing suites. The program required an open work space, a screening area with custom built-in movie screen, three sound-insulated editing booths, 6 private offices and a conference room. A new central air system was also installed. Custom plywood furniture, including a wraparound window seat, bookshelf and space divider, and custom upholstery brought an understated modern tidiness to the space. Japanese, warm colors, browns, and neutrals, with simple veneered plywood details. Editing bays and podcast rooms are intended to be dark, quiet spaces of focus in which one locks themselves for hours at a time while editing movies. We selected neutral carpeting, slatted walnut acoustic wall panels, and Kirei felt panelling in the edit bays. The podcasting rom, which required a higher degree of sound insulation, received foam panelling infit with custom wood molding, cove lighting and felt wool acoustic wall coverings throughout. We used Americork panels on the interior walls.
